About BGLK
Humble Beginnings - Our Mission is to Help.
Formerly called Baguio Lokal. Founded in Mines View, Baguio City during the Pandemic to help our local weavers and retailers sell and market their traditional fabrics while the entire country was in lockdown. Our business is focused on revitalizing the weaving industry through the integration of innovative solutions, while also providing a profitable livelihood for indigenous weavers and other local artisans such as sewers, embroiderers, wood carvers, etc. The majority of our workforce, if not all, is composed of women, senior citizens, and PWDs. Our business model operates by motivating former weavers to return to their traditional craft, offering them looms, threads, and other necessary accessories. We collaborate closely with our weavers to incorporate innovative techniques and introduce new raw materials to meet the increasing demand for woven products such as our bespoke sablay sash and leis. In return, we empower our weavers to set their own prices, giving them full control over their income.
Since our official inception in October 2021, we have experienced significant growth, with our weavers now inspiring their children and grandchildren to carry on their cherished legacy.
